The duke had the nerve to overlook that their breakfast buffet offered ordinary sliced bread. also, the lack of any welcome pack and shower instructions just made my stay, oh so much more delightful. i woudl ve thought a few extra comforts like me would be a no-brainer. guess i was wrong. almost wrote a good review, but couldn’t.

A Hidden Gem in Guernsey
From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcome. Our spacious room overlooked the church, was pristine, and had a fantastic mini bar with reasonably priced treats. The dinner was a highlight, as each dish outshone the previous one. The breakfast, by far the best I’ve had, was simply unbeatable.
While the location was great, we found the room quite warm. opening the window let in noise from the lively street below. the TV did not work initially, requiring a call to reception.

Excellent food and great service
I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the meals during my stay. The breakfast featured a full English spread along with a buffet, while dinner at the nearby restaurant was delightful, particularly the fish 'n' chips. The staff made the experience even better, being cheerful and genuinely helpful. The location made it easy to explore the town.

The Duke of Normandie offered a lovely room, very clean and surprisingly comfortable. I really appreciated the Nespresso machine and kettle available for that late-night cup of coffee. The beds had plush pillows, making my sleep a delight. the room felt quite small, especially for a superior room. maneuvering around was tricky, and fitting in all my luggage was challenging. On the brighter side, the food at the Pickled Pig Restaurant was a highlight. The breakfast had a great variety, with a fantastic full English option. I loved the service during meals. staff were attentive and efficient. The location is convenient, just a short walk down to the seafront, but be prepared for a steep climb back up after a day of exploring. Another minor downside was the noise from the courtyard. sometimes it could be a bit disruptive, particularly in the mornings when the chairs and tables were moved around. there was scaffolding outside during my stay, which made accessing my room through the front door a bit awkward. Despite a few inconveniences, the wonderful staff and the delightful meals made my stay enjoyable.

The courtyard rooms provide a stylish and comfortable retreat, perfect for relaxation after a day of exploring. The décor throughout adds a unique character, offering a quaint and charming atmosphere that feels welcoming right from the start.
The layout of the hotel can be a bit of a maze, with multiple entrances that might leave you disoriented at first. My room had broken Venetian blinds, compromising privacy and light control, leaving it brightly lit due to courtyard lights. The woodwork showed signs of aging, and the carpets felt worn, presenting an overall slightly tired appearance. No air conditioning made the room feel stuffy. opening the window meant dealing with the loud pub noise outside, which could be bothersome for light sleepers.

The hotel has a charming quirkiness that adds character, making me feel at home immediately. Everything was spotless, and the breakfast was hands down the best I've had, with delicious freshly baked croissants and coffee that was simply divine!
Thinner walls between rooms for improved sound insulation.
